The Center for Arabic Study Abroad
The Center for Arabic Study Abroad (CASA) is also housed at The University of Texas at Austin. CASA offers advanced level training in Arabic language and culture to qualified American students at its two locations at the American University in Cairo, Egypt and at the University of Damascus, Syria. Established in 1967, CASA has trained more than 1,350 American college level students, graduate students, and professors specializing in various areas of Middle Eastern Studies. ROTC Language and Culture Project
The ROTC Language and Culture Project (LCP) at The University of Texas at Austin provides instruction in and exposure to the languages and cultures of the Persian and Arabic-speaking communities in the Middle East. The goal of the LCP is to cultivate a deeper understanding of these cultures within UT’s ROTC student body in an effort to enrich each cadet and midshipman’s military, professional and personal experiences and to prepare them for possible contact with these communities in the course of their military and professional careers.
Hindi Urdu Flagship, University of Texas at Austin
The second Flagship program finding its home at the University of Texas at Austin, the Hindi Urdu Flagship, offers a four year undergraduate program allowing students to gain professional fluency in the critical languages of Hindi and Urdu. While completing the program, students spend a year in India studying language and participating in a professional internship, all the while completing a major in one of over 170 fields of study at UT.
