Preparing for the Flagship
The Flagship experience is shaped by an intense course curriculum. Students focus on both Standard and Colloquial Arabic (Egyptian and Levantine) during their studies with the Flagship. Prospective students may find it helpful to engage in preparatory, self-guided study prior to or even during their Flagship experience by reading and referencing instructional Arabic textbooks, dictionaries and other online resources.
Some of the text that we recommend include the following:”
- Alif Baa: Introduction to Arabic Letters and Sounds by Kristen Brustad, Mahmoud Al-Batal, and Abbas Al-Tonsi
- The Al-Kitaab fii Ta'allum al-'Arabiyya textbook series by Kristen Brustad, Mahmoud Al-Batal, and Abbas Al-Tonsi
- Arabic-English Dictionary: The Hans Wehr Dictionary of Modern Written Arabic by Hans Wehr
