George Kimson III Scoops Up LAH Bernard Rapoport Scholarship to Study in Morocco

The Liberal Arts Honors (LAH) Program awards scholarships in varying amounts to support LAH students and Humanities majors who will be studying abroad during the spring, summer, and/or fall academic semesters. An LAH student may apply for these scholarships by writing a one-page statement of his or her study abroad plans. The statement presents where and what the student will be studying, the projected cost involved, and the role that study abroad and the mastery of a foreign language plays in the student’s academic and career goals.

Arabic Flagship Program (AFP) student George Kimson III, who just completed his third year of Arabic studies at UT, was awarded a Liberal Arts Honors Bernard Rapoport Scholarship for summer 2011. He is currently in Meknes, Morocco putting his scholarship award to good use and will return to UT in the fall to continue his language studies with content courses in Arabic. George joined the AFP in summer 2010 and is studying International Relations & Global Studies, Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies. He also attended the Arabic Language Summer Institute in summer 2010 and is a resident in Arabic House. The AFP congratulates George on this significant achievement.
